“Time to Talk” Day (UK only)

It is a great time for Mental Health Awareness. In the UK, figures such as Stephen Fry being more and more open about their mental health problems and charities such as Time to Change becoming more and more vocal and successful at raising awareness means that we are talking about mental health more than ever before.

Time to Change has officially designated 6th February “Time to Talk Day” – asking that people reach out to those who might have mental health problems. Nobody is asking that you approach your neighbours and ask if they are depressed, but simply to make time for people – something that we should all be doing anyway, arguably. To aid this, they are sending out packs containing teabags (because we Brits know most things are cured with a cup of tea!), badges and info cards on how to talk about mental health. click here for your pack.

If you are not based here, there’s no reason why you can’t offer moral support by simply communicating with somebody you know who has mental health problems.
